ELORA – This little village was booming with the sound of music along the shore of the Grand River last weekend, as people of all ages travelled from near and far for the 13th Riverfest Elora from Aug. 18 to 20.

ERIN - Credit Valley Conservation is being hired by the Town of Erin to monitor the effects of flushing treated wastewater into the West Credit River for the next five years.

ERIN - Town staff are now looking at how to fund a $150,000 ask from the Erin Tennis Club.

HARRISTON – A wily hog  has been on the loose in the west end of town here for a full week. Two pigs escaped while being unloaded by a Durham area farmer at Harriston Packers on Arthur Street on Aug. 14.

ERIN - Council has decided to begin the months-long process of searching for a new CAO.

ELORA - Township staff now have the authority to award project tenders to vendors without council approval, as long as the bid is within council-approved budget amounts and under $250,000.

FERGUS – Retain access to the pond and limit or don’t interface at all with a multi-use trail proposed to be constructed in the new North Fergus Business Park. That was the prevailing message from about 70 users of the Fergus Off-leash Dog Park at an open house hosted by the township.

MAPLETON – A motion calling for an end to a policy automatically awarding annual increases for Mapleton Township staff based on the Consumer Price Increase (CPI) will be discussed by council here next month.

WELLINGTON NORTH – The Guelph to Owen Sound inter-community transit bus (GOST) will continue running through Wellington North for the next two years after a new agreement was recently inked.

PUSLINCH – Roads in Puslinch are rural roads designed for vehicular traffic and not pedestrians or cyclists.

MAPLETON – Brad Bigrigg has been named interim fire chief for Mapleton Fire Rescue.

MOUNT FOREST – Members of the Mount Forest Aquatics Advisory Committee agree a township fundraising strategy for a new outdoor pool at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex is the way to go.

WELLINGTON NORTH – The Hope Committee wants north Wellington residents to nourish, move, create and discover in the name of physical and mental wellness at the first-ever Lighthouse Festival Sept. 8 to 10.

MAPLETON – Council here has endorsed a set of action plan initiatives designed to facilitate an application for federal housing funding.
