ERIN – Kevin Cox of Erin has jumped right back into normal life after apparently – hopefully – battling cancer for the second and final time.

FERGUS – The Fergus Lions Club is back again with its 25th annual Christmas drive in support of the Centre Wellington Food Bank.

ABOYNE – Chris Ecclestone attended a meeting for the Fergus Elora Rotary club on Nov. 21 at Aboyne Hall with no idea that she was to receive a Paul Harris Fellow award. 

FERGUS – While the COVID-19 pandemic may not have been an easy time for Peter Skoggard, productivity was not a problem. 

ERIN – Five people were sent to hospital, one with serious injuries, after a two-vehicle crash here on Sunday. Emergency crews responded to the collision, on Wellington Road 22 east of Hillsburgh, at about 5:45pm on Nov. 26.

FERGUS – It's official: the old Groves hospital here will be demolished and the Union Street property sold, with sale proceeds reinvested in future health care services in the area.        

MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Curling Club officially unveiled its new “state- of-the-art” ice refrigeration plant installation and start-up last week.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Wellington Federation of Agriculture is raising concerns to municipalities about recent proposals within the county for battery energy storage facilities.

MINTO –  A company planning to redevelop an energy storage facility in the Harriston Industrial Park is seeking a motion of support from Minto town council. 

BRUCEDALE – Guelph/Eramosa staff are expected to come back to council with a proposed 2024 tax increase below 5%.

GUELPH – Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis held an open house on Nov. 22, offering a glimpse of what goes on inside the heavily secured building.

MINTO – The Town of Minto will ask the Ontario government to leave a recent expansion of the Clifford Urban boundary in place.

FERGUS – Centre Wellington firefighters were able to extinguish a Thursday night garage fire before it spread to the house, thanks to some quick-thinking neighbours.

MINTO – Water and sewage system capacity in some areas of Minto may not be sufficient to handle rapid growth without future upgrades, council here has learned.
