PONSONBY – When Ponsonby Minor Softball formed its first teams in the 1960s, they didn’t have a ballpark of their own, but this year the club will celebrate five decades of playing ball on its own “Field of Dreams,” a place still looked after by community volunteers the way it was 50 years ago.

Unattended candle causes house fire, $150,000 in damage
ERIN – Volunteer firefighters from the town's stations in Erin and Hillsburgh attended a house fire last weekend on Main Street in the village of Erin. Smoke came from the sides of an evacuated single-storey home as fire crews arrived after 2:25pm on May 18.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The operator of a motor cycle was transported to hospital after a serious crash here on Thursday. Wellington County OPP officials say emergency crews were called to the scene, on Wellington Road 21 west of Elora, on May 16 at about 8pm.
