GUELPH – After a decade of writing about Guelph’s history for local newspapers, local author Ed Butts had more than enough material for a book. The result is 'Guelph Stories', a self-published volume made up of his newspaper stories.

ELORA – Nate Sutherland is attempting to do something many of us would think is impossible – run from Elora to Toronto in a single day. The 19-year-old is running to raise money for Mount Sinai Hospital’s research into autoimmune disease.

ERIN – A watermain break that affected the Stanley Park industrial area in Erin on April 24, and left some with little to no water flow at the tap, has been repaired.

GUELPH – On April 16, United Way announced it had invested $1.5 million in 51 programs across Guelph and Wellington and Dufferin counties. But funding requests were much higher – more than twice what was available to distribute.

TORONTO – Fergus resident Wilfred Thyssen, 67, was sentenced in Toronto Court by Justice Jonathan Bliss this month to a term of more than five years in prison for arranging to have sex with children and breaching a bail condition.

ERIN – For refugees chosen to come to Canada, it’s like winning the lottery, says Erin Refugee Action. The local group has sponsored five families since 2016, and is now campaigning to raise enough funds to reunite members of its second sponsored family, the Hizans.
