“Bigger, better, more efficient.” That’s what John Hutten, owner of CSN Hutten Collision Centre, said at the sod-turning ceremony on Oct. 7 at the site of a new 10,700 square foot building.
Situated on Glengarry Crescent in Fergus’s industrial area there are two acres of land for the building and storage. The company’s 10 employees will have a better and cleaner atmosphere to work in.
The business started in 1983 in Elora with only one working bay garage. The property on St. David St. North in Fergus became available and the company relocated there in 1999 in the back shop.
Soon it took over the whole building. Lack of space and restraints in town such as environmental issues were becoming a problem. So the company decided to move.
Hutten said there is a lot of new technology coming out in new vehicles and indicated all Ford F150 trucks now have an aluminum body construction, which requires all new equipment for the company to keep competitive.
“This new equipment will position us very well for the future,” Hutten said.
The building will also be fully accessible and have heated flooring, LED lighting, and a central vacuum system, which will make it better and healthier for employees.
Hutten made a point of saying, “a new and larger facility does not mean that costs of repairs will go up but that the company becomes more efficient and brings more value to the consumer as well.”
Construction was scheduled to start Oct. 8 with completion marked for May as the other building has already been sold.
