WELLINGTON NORTH – Updates to the province’s proof of vaccination requirements, announced on Dec. 10, will impact the Arthur and Area Community Centre, Mount Forest and District Sports Complex, Damascus Community Hall and the Arthur Seniors Centre.
As of Dec. 20, anyone aged 12 to 17 will have to show proof of vaccination to participate in organized sports at Wellington North facilities.
In the new year, beginning Jan. 4, anyone required to show a proof of vaccination to enter a township facility will need to have a vaccine certificate with a QR code.
The vaccine certificate can be printed or digital and the QR code will be scanned using the Verify Ontario app.
As of Jan. 10, anyone with a medical exemption will also need to present a QR code to enter settings where proof of vaccination is required. Paper notes from doctors will no longer be accepted.
Proof of vaccination and QR codes will continue to be checked by security guards from a third-party company hired by Wellington North to provide compliance service at its facilities.
The Arthur and Area Community Centre and the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex will remain open for rentals, programming, and sporting events, a Dec. 16 township press release states.
Concession booths at both arenas will remain closed for the remainder of the season.
Rentals can no longer be made at the Damascus Community Hall and the Arthur Seniors Centre will remain closed, the release stated.
