Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has found a permanent location for its Guelph office – on Chancellor’s Way in Research Park North.
Construction of the new site will begin this summer. It will provide clinical space, teaching rooms, and work space for staff currently housed in two locations.
The Board of Health identified the need for a new office in 2002. The need became urgent in 2007 when Public Health staff vacated offices on Delhi Street due to asbestos contamination. Staff relocated to renovated warehouse space and continue to deliver programs and services from the temporary location on Southgate Drive.
“We are very pleased with the accessibility of a central location. A new, larger facility will allow us to meet the needs of our clients and community partners”, said Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive Officer. “The board is confident the new site will serve the needs of the public for the next 50 years.”
