WELLINGTON COUNTY – International Crime Stoppers’ motto Creating Partnerships Against Crime is stronger than ever in Guelph-Wellington.
Two new initiatives, both designed to partner Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) with new sectors of the community, will help increase awareness of the program.
Firstly, WrightHaven Homes of Fergus worked with CSGW to develop a sign to be posted at their construction sites throughout Wellington County. The signs, which bear both the CSGW and WrigthHaven Homes logos, includes the toll-free number and website for reporting suspicious activity. Construction sites are often targeted by crime and the lost of everything from materials to tools can be costly.

“As always, we count on our communities to look out for each other and let us know when something looks off,” she said. “By using Crime Stoppers, they are keeping themselves anonymous and their information confidential.”
The second partnership is with the Township of Guelph Eramosa. They too developed signage customized for their park and recreational areas that reminds users that illegal dumping is a crime. By entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with CSGW, the community can report bylaw-related information for investigation through Crime Stoppers.
“The Township is excited to partner with Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington,” stated Amanda Knight, CMO Clerk/Director of Legislative Services. “We recognize the important role CSGW plays in combating crime, including illegal dumping, in our community and are thankful for their continued assistance and support!”

CSGW, which is an alternative to reporting directly to police, accepts tip information via www.csgw.tips as well as by calling 1-800-222-TIPS. The program is active on social media and can be contacted for new partnership opportunities through the website.
