New girders arriving April 15

The cranes will be back in town on April 15.

As bridgework continues on the Tower Street bridge here, Mark Eby from Wellington County roads division recently noted that the two new steel girders for the east side of the Tower Street Bridge will be delivered to the site on April 15 around 1pm.

The two girders are coming to the site fully assembled and with a police escort.

Each girder is 44m in length and will be placed onto the new bearings in the footings/abutments Monday afternoon by two 90 tonne cranes.

The cranes will arrive on site in the morning to set up for the lift.
