The Puslinch Historical Society is launching Marilynn Crow’s new book To the Seventh Generation: The Evolution of the Family Farm in Canada, 1823-2015 on March 19 from 2 to 4pm at the Aberfoyle library.
The book records the changes in farming practices on the McCaig/Crow farm in Puslinch.
At that stage in Canada’s development, family farms are facing unprecedented pressures.
While expansion has helped keep some family farms viable, the role of corporate players both inside and outside the industry is now driving the agricultural economy.
This story was written to provide readers with a sense of the generations rooted in southwestern Ontario before development.
The Wellington County Historical Society has financially supported Crow’s book.
