Nestlé Waters Canada recently announced a donation of $7,200 to Canada’s 911 Ride Foundation, resulting in the Township of Puslinch and Guelph General Hospital each receiving public defibrillators.
The portable electronic devices provide out-of-hospital emergency treatment by first responders to those suffering from cardiac arrest, principally by applying an electric shock to restore the heart’s natural rhythm.
Canada’s 911 Ride Foundation raises several thousands of dollars annually through its ride to provide public defibrillators (working in conjunction with the Mikey Network) as well as to support children victimized by violent crime, families of fallen emergency service personnel, and returning military personnel injured in the line of duty (through the Soldier On program).
“We are very thankful to Nestlé Waters Canada for hosting a barbecue luncheon for about 200 of our volunteer riders as well as for donating $7,200 towards the purchase of two public defibrillators,” said Daniel Lawrence, president of Canada’s 911 Ride.
“Wellington County will be able to deal with the emergency health needs of some of those residents in cardiac arrest just that much quicker as a result of the company’s donation.”
Puslinch Mayor Dennis Lever said, “On behalf of the residents of Puslinch, we wish to thank Canada’s 911 Ride and Nestlé Waters Canada for this life-saving donation.
“Having a public defibrillator available in the Optimist recreation centre will afford all users of that facility additional peace of mind in the event of a health emergency.”

Canada’s 911 Ride is greatly improving the quality of life for children victimized by violent crime, families who loved ones are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty and those who require immediate help because of heart attacks suffered some distance away from a hospital.
Established in 2006, Canada’s 911 Ride Foundation is an annual motorcycle fundraising ride escorted by police departments across the province. The foundation’s mission is to host an annual ride.
