Looking to make your Christmas Greener?
Here are three suggestions to put good intentions into practice and support NeighbourWoods – working hard to plant and tend the trees in the urban forest of Centre Wellington.
The handy EcoPac is an extremely sturdy, washable, ripstop nylon tote that stuffs in seconds into its own pocket. People can stash them in their purse, glove compartment, or pocket. They are made locally for fair wages. A family pack of four is $35 or $10 each. It comes in various colours.
The second is Neighbour-Woods Notecards. A package of ten colour cards features a pine bough photo taken by artist Terry Golletz. They are $10.
A Celebration Tree is the third offering. It is a six to eight-foot native tree planted and a plaque placed in one of the local parks.
It can be used to recognize a loved family member with a gift that will outlast anything else under the tree. It brings shade and beauty to our parks and provide a lasting legacy for someone special and our community. While planting will take place next fall (and the buyer and gift recipient will be invited to attend and help, a gift certificate will be ready for opening on Dec. 25. The cost is $125 each, and the trees come with a full tax receipt.
For more information or to make a purchase, drop by the NeighbourWoods office on the second floor of the Elora Arts Centre, 75 Melville Street, during business hours Monday to Friday, or call 519-846-0841 to make other arrangements.
