CENTRE WELLINGTON — Dedicated volunteers came out on July 11 to help mulch trees in the community.
Six sites in Fergus and Elora were covered, using two trailer loads of mulch.
“Thank you to CW Township for supplying, and Ted Ecclestone for hauling and shovelling the mulch,” organizers state.
Mulch keeps soil cool and moist, adding nutrients and reducing compaction, as well as protecting trees from whipper snippers.
It is an important part of helping young trees grow into bigger legacy trees.
Sites covered include: Elora Public School, James McQueen Public School, Baker Tilly, the OPP Centre Wellington Office, Hill St Fergus, and sites at Groves Memorial Community Hospital.
