Nearly 2,000 accidental farming deaths in 18 years

A recent report on farm safety found that nearly 2,000 accidental agricultural deaths were recorded in Canada from 1990 to 2008.

Of those:

– 14 per cent were children;

– 70% were machine-related;

– machine rollovers and run overs accounted for 746 deaths; and

– machine run-overs and drowning were the most common causes of death among young children.
