Navy league sells special watch for cadet program

The Navy League of Canada (Ontario Division) is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Navy in a timely way.

It is selling l00th anniversary Royal Canadian Naval watches to raise funds for its ongoing cadet programs while honouring the Navy and its proud heritage.

Naval Cadet programs are all self funded. Young people are taught life skills, responsibility, and good citizenship in addition to learning practical skills that can last a lifetime.

The sea cadet and navy league program provides them with a welcome, healthy environment after school hours which gives them focus and direction in their lives.

Uniforms are provided, as are training and development, summer camps, and instruction on sail boats. The program has a proven positive impact on the future goals and career choices of all participants.

The watch is the only Royal Canadian Navy Watch in the world and Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip each received RCN anniversary watches while they were in Halifax for the Centennial Naval Review this summer.

The watch is a $200 item being sold for $65; it has Seiko movements and a Speidel band and a substantial portion of the watch proceeds are going to Navy League programs.

All watches are now available for Christmas delivery.

This is the last major event for our remaining World War II veterans to commemorate and many are unaware the watch exists.

There are Navy cadet corps in almost ever community throughout Canada. The watches and information are available at www.timeisticking.ca.
