National celebrity chefs to compete for a charity event

Celebrity chefs will get together at JL’s Home Hardware in Guelph on June 15 to support Prostate Cancer Canada, Wellington -Waterloo.

“Skewer for a cure – grilling challenge” is new and will be Guelph’s own grilling version of the popular television show Chopped Canada.

The celebrity chef judges include: media and TV celebrity chef Emily Richards’ of Guelph; chef Michael Benninger who graduated at the top of his class from the top cooking school in Melbourne, Australia and Mark Steffler from Weber Barbeques Canada.

JL’s Home Hardware is hosting grill masters from some of Guelph’s local eateries like The Keg, State and Main, Bite Guelph, Milestone’s, Valeriote’s Market, Fifty West/Delta Hotels and Envers.

Each chef challenger will be provided with a basket of mystery ingredients supplied by Thatcher Farms. Visitors can taste samples of each chef’s grilled gastronomy and judge which chef deserves the Grill King trophy.

The whole family is encouraged to wear their ugliest tie to support “Tie One On,” a fundraiser to help support Prostate Cancer Canada and all the dads, uncles, sons and grandfathers for Father’s Day.  

The event starts at 6:30pm at  575 Wellington Street West from 6:30 to 9pm. Tickets are $5 at both JL’s Home Hardware Guelph locations.
