The Guelph Youth Music Centre will be hosting a concert featuring internationally-renowned pianist Valerie Tryon on Feb. 27 at 7:30pm.
One of the greatest pianists from Britain, now living in Canada, Tryon continues a distinguished career with piano performances around the world in recital, as a concerto soloist with many of the greatest international orchestras, and as a recording artist.
“It is truly an honour for the GYMC to host a concert featuring Valerie Tryon,” commented Gabriella Currie-Ziegler, executive director of the Guelph Youth Music Centre in a press release.
“We are truly blessed this season to have such a well-known line-up of artists playing at the GYMC and in our community.”
Tryon’s career began as a concert pianist when she was still a child, broadcasting for the BBC and appearing regularly before the public. She was one of the youngest students ever to be admitted to the Royal Academy of Music where she received the highest award in piano, and a bursary which took her to Paris to continue her studies.
She has played in most major concert halls and appeared with many of the leading orchestras and conductors in Britain. Tryon has also appeared in major cities in Canada and the U.S.
