Museum to host 40th annual car show

The Wellington County Museum and Archives is hosting its 40th Annual Antique and Classic Car Show on Aug. 23.

Last year’s show of classic cars on the front lawn of the museum made for a spectacular site, organizers note.

Cars, trucks and vintage motorbikes are invited to gather on the front lawn beginning at noon. Awards will be given this year to the car with the “Best Interior,” “Best Paint Job” and “Best in Show” as voted by the visitors.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the car show itself, there will be ‘70s trivia and music, and prizes for anyone who was at the first car show in 1975.

The Fergus Brass Band will be on site at 1pm to entertain visitors and car owners alike. Also joining the event this year is The Moore Brothers of Drayton, performing at 2:30pm.

Hot dogs, hamburgers and cold drinks will be available from the Fergus M&M charity barbecue, with proceeds to the Centre Wellington Food Bank.

Woodturner Jim Lorriman will also be on hand for the opening of his exhibit “History in the Making: Woodturning with Jim Lorriman” (see page 32 for more on the exhibit).
