Multicultural Festival coming to Wellington County Museum

ABOYNE – Diversity will be at the forefront of the celebrations as the Wellington County Multicultural Festival returns to the Wellington County Museum and Archives on July 13.

“The Wellington County Multicultural Festival is celebrating the diverse cultures and communities that we have within the region,” county economic development coordinator Anuradha Dam said in a video promoting the event posted on the county’s website.

“There’s a diverse lineup of performances happening, as well as we have a lot of local cuisines which are being served here,” Dam said, adding that festivities will extend beyond the stage and food vendors to include a variety of free activities.

The one-day festival, now in its second year, runs from 11am to 4pm.

It includes a lineup of performances, including songs and dances representing cultural traditions of India, China, Egypt, Scotland, Ireland, Ukraine and more.

There will also be a Poor House tour at the museum, a puppet show in the barn,

African drumming on the lawn, a “bubbleology” show and even a dog show, plus a range of food and beverage vendors, and various information booths, and activity centres.

“This one-day free family-friendly event is an opportunity to celebrate the diverse people, cultures, and communities that make our region so special,” states the website.
