HARRISTON – After nearly a dozen years in business locally, Ms-Beauty Med+Salon, Spa, Laser and Foot Care Clinic has opened in a spacious new downtown location here.
With more than 25 years of experience in her field, Maneesha Sharma opened her business at One Arthur Street, Harriston after moving to the community when her husband, Akash, opened a business here.
Ms Beauty offers a wide range of services, including: hair care, manicure and pedicures, massage, waxing and facial treatments.
These days, much of Sharma’s focus is on medical aesthetics and footcare, providing services such as permanent hair removal, skin rejuvenation, tattoo removal, diabetic foot care and treatment for foot and nail fungus.
The latter she notes, is a growing part of her businesses, with clients coming from a wide area for her combination of deep cleaning and laser treatment.
The laser equipment at the salon is all approved by Health Canada. Her machine for treating toenail and foot fungus is one of only three in Ontario, she points out.
“Two weeks ago there was client, he came from PEI. And he came for his toe. He had lost his one leg because of the fungus on his toenail and his other toe was fully infected,” she stated.
Sharma said referrals from customers have brought her clients from Kitchener, Brampton, Mississauga and further afield. However, she especially enjoys the opportunity to bring her services to local residents.
Sharma said she has also begun to receive referrals from area medical practitioners for the toe treatments.
“We do more of a physical cleaning, it’s like dental cleaning when you go to the dentist … they just go deep, dig in and clean, clean clean. We do same thing for the toenails,” she explained, noting the physical cleaning is preceded by a 20-minute soak in a medicated solution and followed by laser therapy.
Depending on the severity of the fungus, Sharma said treatments can last from one to two hours, noting she spends whatever time is necessary to get the job done.
“That is the key to my business. I spend time,” she states.
Other foot care services offered at Ms-Beauty include trimming for thick, ingrown nails and corn, callus and plantar wart removal.
Laser therapies are also used to treat a wide range of cosmetic conditions.
“This machine can do 15 kinds of different treatment. So we can remove tattoos, we can remove spider veins … we can remove old skin, we can remove hair, wrinkles,” she stated, noting she also offers treatment for scarring caused by acne or other sources.
All the treatments available at the salon are “non-invasive” she stresses.
Sharma said helping people feel better and feel better about themselves is the most satisfying part of her work.
“That is my passion. I like to see the results. I like to work with people,” she said.
Sharma is planning a grand opening of her new facility on May 2, with an open house running from 12 to 7pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, ask questions and, if interested, book a free consultation.
