To celebrate national Eating Disorder Awareness Week, the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Eating Disorders Coalition hosts the annual event Faces of Recovery.
The panel of women and family members in recovery from an eating disorder takes place on Feb. 3 at Guelph’s Italian Canadian Club, at 135 Ferguson Street, From 7 to 9pm.Admission is free, but donations to the coalition’s work will be accepted with thanks.
The coalition will sponsor a screening of the Darryl Roberts film, America the Beautiful on Feb. 4. The documentary is the product of his five year journey exploring American’s obsession with physical perfection.
He examines who is affected by unattainable media images that contributing to a rise of low self esteem, body dysmorphia, and eating disorders in young women and girls, the beauty industry’s big consumers. The screening is at the Bookshelf Cinema on Quebec Street and starts at 6:45pm. Admission is $10 of adults, $7 for students, and members.
