Seven very different and unique gardens in and around the town will be featured on a garden tour of Mount Forest on July 23.
The self-guided tour, sponsored by the Mount Forest Horticultural Society, begins at 10am and ends at 3pm.
Mount Forest is a gardener’s paradise, state organizers. With its lovely rich soil and wide variety of growing conditions, the town is host to many avid and ambitious gardeners. The assortment of trees, shrubs and perennials that sail through the snowy cold winters and hot summers is astonishing.
Local food production and roadside farmers selling fresh produce, meat, honey, etc, abound.
Mount Forest is a beautiful town, made even lovelier by the river at its south end, its historic architecture and the many mature trees and forests and civic gardens.
Bring your binoculars and your cameras.
The area is bird land and no doubt participants will spot butterflies flitting from flower to flower collecting nectar.
All are welcome. Tickets cost $10 per person and are available at the Mount Forest Co-op, M&M’s Food Market and at WildThings Plant Farm, on Baseline Road, 7km west of Mount Forest off Hwy 89.
Tickets include a description of each garden and a detailed map.
This is a rain-or-shine event, so bring your umbrellas.
