MOUNT FOREST – On Sept. 7 the Mount Forest Lion’s Club held its first dinner and dance fundraiser in support of research and treatment of childhood cancers.
Childhood cancer is one of the club’s pillars of service and is dear to the hearts of many of its members.
And the event was a success, organizers say, raising $4,200 in a silent auction, $525 from a 50/50 draw and a total $12,500 for the entire event.
Entertainment for the evening was The 12th Line Band and 2smiths1ville.
The meal was catered by Steve Chambers of A+ catering. The club thanked sponsors Dave and Barb Fletcher, Troy and Shelly Mason, Drew and Angela Nelson, Don and Susan Tremble and Marty and Jo-Ann Young.
Officials also thanked many silent auction prize contributors. “Without the support of the community this event would not have been possible. Thanks a million, together we can find a cure,” they stated.
