The Mount Forest Curling Club will receive $35,750 for accessibility upgrades announced Perth-Wellington MP John Nater on April 5.
“I am pleased to see the Mount Forest Curling Club receive this much-needed funding,” said Nater.
Curling Club president Doug Rice stated that the funds would be used to install an accessible ramp as well as an accessible washroom at the club. He thanked Nater and the Enabling Accessibility Program.
Rice said the curling club would not have been able to make these improvements without the funding provided by the federal government.
Rice is confident the upgrades will allow more residents to utilize the facilities.
Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox congratulated the curling club on its desire and willingness to become more accessible.
“Through these efforts we are helping people in our community contribute and participate fully by improving access to facilities, activities, and services.”
The Mount Forest Curling Club is located at 144 Egremont Street and has been in operation at this location since 1965.
