The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) will be stocking brown trout in five local ponds and creeks the week prior to the opening of trout season on April 25.
The locations include:
– Rockwood Conservation Area on Highway 7;
– Marden Pond in Marden Park just west of Marden (junction of Highway 6 and County Road 30) in Guelph-Eramosa Township; and
– Mill Creek, in Soper Park in Cambridge.
The brown trout are from the MNR Harwood Fish Culture Station, and 500 will be stocked at each site.
Anglers are asked to refer to the 2008 – 2009 Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary available from MNR offices and fishing licence issuers for the regulations and other information covering fishing in Fisheries Management Zone 16. This year the brown trout season is from April 25 to Sept. 30 unless the water body is an exception to the zone 16 regulations. The catch and possession limit for brown trout under a sport fishing licence is five in one day and under a conservation fishing licence is two in one day unless the waterbody is an exception to the zone 16 regulations.
