MINTO – The municipal office here will reopen on Sept. 7 and council meetings will again be open to members of the public starting Sept. 21.
“As we begin the next phase of our COVID recovery plan, the Town of Minto remains devoted to ensuring all safety measures are followed, to protect our staff and the public,” states an Aug. 16 press release from the town.
Town officials are thanking “the public for their ongoing understanding during these unique circumstances, and we can’t wait to welcome you back into our office.”
The office, located on Highway 89 north of Harriston, reopens on Sept. 7 but town officials caution that only two people at a time will be permitted in the office vestibule to ensure physical distancing protocols are met.
“We will continue to encourage members of the public to book appointments for service to avoid standing in lineups outside of the office,” states the town release.
To book an appointment residents should call the municipal office (519-338-2511) and follow phone prompts or email the person they would like to reach (contact information can be found on the town website).
In-person council meetings will resume Sept. 21 but they will be moved to the Harriston, Clifford and Palmerston Community Centres on a rotating basis to ensure proper physical distancing.
“More details on the safety plan for council meetings will follow as we get closer to this date,” states the press release.
