A Minto resident was airlifted to Hamilton hospital with serious burns on Thursday after trying to light a corn stove.
On Feb. 8 at about 6:25am emergency crews responded to reports of a structure fire at a home on the 16th Line in Minto.
Police say the victim was trying to start a corn stove “when a flashback occurred causing the victim to start on fire. The victim exited the residence and rolled in snow to extinguish the fire then left the premises.”
The victim was located and transported to a local hospital and then air lifted to Hamilton General Hospital with serious burns.
Police say he is in stable condition and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted.
