HARRISTON – Minto Pride is hosting a drag night fundraiser on June 29 at the Crown Harriston cultural centre.
Organizers promise “a fantastic lineup of kings and queens” from Haus of Gore drag house.
Performers include Luke McAnally-Gore Shadow, Paris Gore, Zephyr Shadow and Gemini Gore and Fortune Favours.
“This is going to be one memorable night filled with dazzling entertainment,” officials stated.
This is a 19+ event at a now-licensed venue. Doors open at 7:15pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door.
Part of the proceeds will go towards the Minto Pride Committee.
“We are excited to organize this annual fundraiser,” Crown representatives stated.
McAnally-Gore Shadow
Luke McAnally-Gore Shadow was born and raised in the Minto area, but started his drag career in Sault Ste. Marie.
He won the King of Halloween title in 2019 (Drag Me to Hell competition). He is a leader of Haus of Gore, which consists of members from the Twin Saults (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan). His musical tastes vary from country to nu-metal to pop.
Luke loves being on stage, but his favourite part of drag is helping to create safer community spaces, officials stated.
Paris Gore
Paris Gore started drag in Toronto in 2011, and uses her platform to work toward ending the stigma around people living with HIV/AIDS.
In 2017, she launched the Haus of Gore, where she helps many drag performers with their own journeys.
Gemini Gore
Gemini Gore is a transgender drag queen living in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. She started drag almost six years ago through her close friend and mentor, Paris Gore.
Gemini is inspired by other drag figures, R&B divas, and Y2K fashion “with a twinge of raw and raunchy attitude,” organizers stated.
“You can always expect her to bring stunning visuals that capture the essence of the song that she performs when she hits the stage,” officials stated.
Zephyr Shadow
Zephyr Shadow began performing as a drag king with the Haus of Gore in April 2018. Prior to COVID, he performed monthly in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, U.S., and three to four times per year in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
He has recently immigrated from Michigan to Ontario but plans to continue performing on both sides of the border.
“Zephyr is the resident ‘bad boy’ of his drag family,” organizers stated.
Fortune Favours
Hailing from the prairies, Fortune Favours “knows how to bend and snap their way into any heart,” organizers stated.
They draw from an arsenal of inspirations, fine-tuning their craft over six years.
“It’ll never be a dull show with your not-so-local sweetheart Fortune around,” officials stated.
