MINTO – Municipal officials here are taking a break from weekly online updates designed to keep local residents informed through the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the municipal office closed to the public since mid-March and council meetings moved to an online format, the town started the interactive Facebook Live updates, featuring Mayor George Bridge, CAO Derrick Thomson and various staff members, in April as a way of communicating directly with citizens.
During the July 7 update, Thomson said the municipality would take a break from the format until fall.
“The information is not changing as fast as it once was,” Thomson pointed out, adding the information provided in the updates is also communicated through the town’s various social media accounts.
Thomson said updates may start back up in September, in a format that could include recaps of town council meetings.
