The Town of Minto has approved the sale of a one-acre lot in the Palmerston Industrial Park for the construction of a 9,000 square foot building.
At the April 18 meeting, business and economic manager Belinda Wick-Graham reported that Felix and Bernice Weber, owners of Ag. Business & Crop, also located in the industrial park, had submitted an offer to lot 1E, on Frank Lambier Court for the full asking price of $15,000.
Wick-Graham explained the plan is to construct a 9,000 square foot building in an effort to maintain an existing business within the Town of Minto
“For various reasons a business will be homeless, potentially, and we want them to stay in town so this is hopefully going to help do that,” she told council. “If by chance that doesn’t pan out their plan with the building is to have three 3,000 square foot rental units.”
Wick-Graham declined to provide further information on the situation regarding the local business when contacted by the Advertiser.
Wick-Graham pointed out the Weber’s currently operate a business with international clients from a 6,000 square foot unit in the industrial park in Palmerston. The company uses the latest technology and information to offer innovative solutions to a wide range of agricultural and commercial industries.
While stressing the Webers’ “main goal is to try to keep this other business in the community first,” Wick Graham anticipated there would be a market for the smaller units if the building ends up being divided.
“There’s a shortage of that type of space in the region,” she pointed out.
Council passed a bylaw authorizing the transaction.
