Following a recommendation by the walkable communities committee, Minto will incorporate the sustainable community guidelines for development and developers as an appendix to, or as part of the municipal servicing standards for residential development.
Deputy-mayor Judy Dirksen said the issue is an amendment to the existing guidelines “for anyone wishing to develop in our town.”
The committee also recommended the town’s strategic plan be amended to include under its health goal and walkable community objectives:
– ensure there is a budget for trail linkage;
– work with the Ministry of Transportation to develop a trail for the Town of Minto; and
– develop a walking and cycling map and signage.
