Guelph Museum has announced its fifth annual lecture series will take place this winter in partnership with the Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies in Waterloo.
The series begins Jan. 19 with Mike Bechthold speaking on Arthur Currie’s Greatest Victory: The Battle for Hill 70, August 1917.
On, Feb. 16, Caitlin Williams will speak on Flying Billboards: How Canadian nose cone art brought colour to the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War.
On March 15, Matt Symes will speak on War in the Abstract: Art as a window into Canada’s military past.
On April 19, the annual Kingsmill lecture on naval history will feature Terry Copp speaking on Assault from the Sea: The Royal Navy and the capture of Westkapelle, Walcheren Island, Nov. 1, 1944.
All lectures begin at 7:30pm and will take place at the new Guelph Civic Museum.
The doors will open at 6:30pm.
The lectures are sponsored by the Laurier Centre and are offered at no charge. A selection of publications from LCMSDS Press will be for sale at each lecture.
