CLIFFORD – Past president Mary Mighton met with pianist Sharon Prieb and seven members of the Merry Maker seniors on Sept. 5 at Jamesway Manor in Clifford.
Gladys Zimmerman, Doris Jaunzemis, Edie Henry, Joy Burnett, Kathy Hendry, and Joyce Beyers warmed up their voices by singing O’Canada before heading to sing with the seniors at the Fordwich Nursing Home.
Activities director Barb Wakeford had 20 residents ready to sing along with the Merry Makers.
The residents tapped their toes, clapped their hands, and smiled throughout the program. Lilli Marlene was sung especially for Max Held who had his son Robert visiting with him that afternoon.
Leone Foerter was visiting with a friend and sat in on the session to sing.
The group looks forward to this event each fall and may return for a repeat performance in the spring.
The Clifford Merry Makers meet the first Thursday of the month at Jamesway Manor. Members take turns leading the meeting and choosing the topic and place to eat.
They meet at noon if a pot luck luncheon is planned and then enjoy a presentation on a variety of subjects or they meet at 1:30pm, enjoy the speaker, and go to dinner.
Pizza is usually served in February or March, and the group enjoy pancakes at the Belmore Maple Syrup Festival in April. Membership dues of $3 are paid in October and $2 is collected each meeting.
The group choose to not meet in July or August. All seniors are welcome to join or just visit for the day.
