Medicinal plants presented Sept. 12

The Arboretum is offering a Medicinal Plants workshop on Sept. 12 from 6:30 to 8:30pm.

Join naturopathic doctor Elizabeth Cherevaty for a guided tour featuring some of the native medicinal plants used in historical and modern medicine, including: mayapple, blue cohosh, bloodroot, red raspberry, celandine, hawthorn, black walnut, Solomon’s seal, hepatica, plantain, wild ginger and dandelion.

Participants will learn which herbs are toxic in material doses and healing in homeopathic doses, and may even come away with an appreciation for dandelions as good medicine. Cherevaty is a Guelph naturopathic doctor utilizing botanical and homeopathic plant medicines regularly in her clinical family practice.

Meet at the Taylor Centre for a brief introduction followed by a guided medicinal plants tour in the Aboretum grounds (rain or shine).

The workshop fee is $35 a person and advance registration is required by calling The Arboretum at 519-824-4120 extension 52358. The registration deadline is Sept. 5.
