MOUNT FOREST – Police are reminding pet owners to be vigilant about spotting hazards after someone found meat in downtown Mount Forest that appeared to be laced with rat poison.
Wellington County OPP officials say officers responded to a call for a “suspicious item” found on Main Street South (Highway 6) on Oct. 13.
“It was reported that a number of pieces of meat that had been laced with what looked like rodenticide were located in the area,” police stated in an Oct. 14 press release.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 1-888-310-1122.
To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a tip online at www.csgw.tips. Tip providers may be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers of up to $2,000.
“This is a good reminder to watch for hazards that could injure your pets and if you are using products like rodenticide to use all precautions suggested by the manufacturer,” police stated.
