McGinn brothers to bring ball hockey to Fergus

Team registration is now open for The McGinn Brothers Big Game, hosted by NHL players Jamie, Tye and Brock McGinn.

On Aug. 17, the McGinn brothers will host a 40-team, four-division all day ball hockey tournament.

Every penny raised through registrations and The Big Game will benefit the capital campaign for a new Big Brothers Big Sisters Centre Wellington space. The four divisions include:

– under 9 (born between 2010 and 2012);

– under 12 (born between 2007 and 2009);

– under 15 (born between 2004 and 2006); and

– under 17 (born between 2002 and 2003).

“This is a great way to get a team together, have some fun and play some street hockey,” organizers state.

After all games are played, the McGinn brothers will be hosting The Big Game, which will feature top fundraisers and about 12 current/former NHL players.

This is a free event for people to come and watch and meet their NHL idols. A list of NHL players will be updated closer to the date at themcginnbrothersbiggame.com.

The tournament can handle a total of 40 teams. The registration fee per team is $750 (all money raised goes to Big Brothers Big Sisters Centre Wellington).

Donations of $750 from individuals and businesses will also be accepted for under-privileged kids to play on a team where they will get to meet other kids their age and learn to love the game of hockey, say officials.

Teams can register at canadahelps.org/en/charities/big-brothers-big-sisters-of-centre-wellington/events/the-big-game.
