Mayor’s charity golf tournament set for Aug. 8

MINTO – Three organizations will benefit from the profits made at this year’s 14th annual Minto Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament on Aug. 8 at Pike Lake Golf Club.

Over the years the event has assisted 46 local groups by raising $140,000 through sponsors and community members.

The Clifford Rotary Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Wellington and Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum will be using the divided funds in various ways to help their organizations.

A cement pad at the John Hobelman Memorial Rotary Pavilion Park in Clifford will be placed by the Club, to ensure a cleaner, accessible parking space is available. The lot will also double as an outdoor pickleball court.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters program is planning on directing its funds to three programs that help children and youth match with a role model.

At the, officials say they hope to use the money to renovate its caboose.

Those interested in sponsoring must contact the receiving organizations for donation forms, or email Minto revenue coordinator Tawnya Robertson at tawnya@town.minto.on.ca.
