Wellington North Township councillor John Matusinec wants to know where the money is coming from for work recommended as a result of a recent energy audit.
Recently at council, Matusinec first asked who authorize the audit, and then asked where the money will come from.
“What are we supposed to do with these audits?” He noted similar audits appeared in the recreation committee minutes.
Matusinec said there is no money budgeted for that work this year. He said that for the fire department, it amounted to about $30,000 in recommended upgrades.
“Any idea of how we should proceed?” he asked.
Works Superintendent Gary Williamson said most of the recommendations for the works department are only in the $1,000 range. “There wasn’t a lot to be done … so I was just going to go ahead and do them.”
Mayor Mike Broomhead said it sounds as if the changes for the fire department are substantial.
Matusinec said one of the recommendations was changing all the lights.
“Do we just sit on that for now, shelve it, or bring a recommendation forward?” he asked.
Broomhead said if there is no money in this year’s fire budget, then it will have to be part of the budget discussion for 2010.
He asked to keep the report on hand because it will be included as part of the budget discussions.
