MARDEN – The parking lot at Marden Park will be closed for the winter months this year and in the future.
The park, community centre, library and athletic centre will remain open, including the parking lots at 7368 and 7384 Wellington Road 30.
People visiting Marden Park can park in either of the two open lots.
“The township has had some maintenance concerns over the past couple winters,” making it difficult to maintain the Marden Park parking lot “to township standards,” stated Jeff Myer, Guelph/Eramosa parks and recreation supervisor.
“The temperature swings we have been experiencing create very icy conditions and we are taking a proactive approach going into this winter to keep everyone safe.”
The lot has been closed since Dec. 15, and township staff plan to reopen it in April, weather permitting.
Township staff intend to annually close the lot during winter moving forward.
