Mapleton welcomes new finance director, treasurer Patrick Kelly

MAPLETON – Patrick Kelly has been hired as Mapleton township’s new finance director and treasurer.

Kelly has 20 years of experience in municipal finances, working at Wilmot Township from 2005 to 2023, and more recently as the Town of Orangeville’s treasurer.

He has also worked as a volunteer firefighter in Elmira for 20 years, is an executive member of the Canadian Network of Asset Managers and sits on the Municipal Finances Association of Ontario’s board of directors,

Former Mapleton finance director John Morrison left the township in April, after holding the position for six years.

Kelly addressed council during a regular meeting on July 9, and called joining the township a “sincere privilege.

“I’m very enthusiastic and excited to take on this pivotal role, and I know full well the responsibilities and challenges that come with it,” he said.

Kelly’s primary objectives, he said, will be to maintain the township’s financial health and long-term sustainability by overseeing financial operations, strategizing for growth, optimizing resources, and mitigating risks.
