The Palmerston 81’s have taken a two games to none lead in their best-of-seven WOAA Senior ‘AA’ final series.
The 81’s beat the Komoka Classics 6-3 on April 5 in Palmerston and 4-2 in Komoka on April 6.
Game three in the series is being played April 11 at 8:30pm in Mount Forest. Game four is slated for April 12 at 7:15pm in Komoka.
The 81’s scored four goals in the third period in the April 5 game, after the teams finished the first period tied at one and the second knotted at two.
Goaltender Josh Leis made 52 saves in the Mapleton-Minto net.
Zach Graham had a hat trick for the 81’s while Joe Gerbe, Tyson Leblanc and Andrew Coburn each scored once. Scott Tregunna and Reed Norman each had two assists while single assists were awarded to Gerbe, Leblanc, Coburn, Dan Richardson and Vic Scheulter.
Mike Findlater, Alex Avery and Jason Furlong scored for Komoka while Ryan Fletcher, Ryan Stephenson, Drew Collinson, Kyle Smith and Andrew Carey each drew one assist.

Minto Mayor George Bridge and Mayor Al Edmonson of Middlesex Centre have agreed to a friendly challenge, Minto officials announced last week. The mayor of the losing team will don the champion’s jersey for pictures and congratulations at an upcoming council meeting.
