MAPLETON – Township council has agreed to change the time of one of its regular monthly meetings from 1pm to 4pm.
Mapleton council currently meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm and the fourth Tuesday at 1pm.
At the Dec. 13 meeting, council approved amending the township’s procedural bylaw to switch the second meeting to a 4pm start time beginning in January.
The amending motion was approved by the required two-thirds majority of council.
A staff report from clerk Larry Wheeler notes the new start time reflects “the wishes of a newly elected council.”
Changes to schedule
Also at the meeting, council approved a 2023 meeting schedule with several deviations from the second and fourth Tuesday pattern.
Due to a conflict with the ROMA (Rural Ontario Municipal Association) conference, Jan. 22 to 24, council’s second meeting in January will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 1pm.
In March, there will be only one council meeting, on March 21, to avoid conflict with the school March Break, set for March 13 to 17.
In addition, during the months of June, July, August, and December there will be only one regular meeting scheduled (June 13, July 11, Aug. 8 and Dec. 12).
