The spirit behind the ten-day proclamation event that just took place on the four corners of St. Andrews and Tower Street here is completed
For the fifth time, The Holy Bible has been proclaimed aloud in public through the efforts of the Centre Wellington Branch of the Canadian Bible Society (CWB CBS) volunteers.
The first event was for four days at the Fergus Fall Fair and then completed at the Wellington Terrace Senior’s Home.
Again this year the complete Holy Bible was proclaimed through the initiatives of Ruth Sproule and Thelma French at Melville United. Words that were written thousands of years ago echoed around the four corners of Fergus, read by 250 volunteers from 15 different churches from the Centre Wellington area.
They spoke in several different languages, ranged in ages from 8 to 80 and came with a faith background of Roman Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Baptist, Pentecostal, United, and others.
The event began with MPP Ted Arnott reading the first 15 minutes and then a steady flow of volunteers continued the readings daily from 7am to 7:30pm, stopping only for Melville’s Sunday morning service.
The final reading was proclaimed on June 4 by Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj and was immediately followed with an hour of praising God through song, testimonies, and prayer.
Proclamation events are being held through out Canada.
CWBCBS thanks all those that dedicated time to setting up sound systems, playing instruments, singing, reading and praying.
