A young man faces 11 charges, including manslaughter, after his grandmother died of injuries sustained in an assault at a home here.
On April 26 at about 1:30am, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a “dispute” at residence in Mount Forest. Three individuals injured in the incident, which involved an unidentified weapon, were transported by Guelph-Wellington EMS to a local hospital for medical treatment.
One of the victims, Joan Dinsmore, 79, of Mount Forest, subsequently died as a result of her injuries.
Ryan Ives, 19, of Mount Forest, was charged with manslaughter, assault causing bodily harm, threatening to cause death, assault, mischief and six counts of assault with a weapon.
He was to appear in Guelph court on April 30.
One other victim was treated at the hospital for minor injuries, as was the accused.
The Wellington OPP Crime Unit continued to investigate the incident, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
