Police have charged a Cambridge man after a vehicle took off from a RIDE program here but returned a short time later.
On May 12 at about 9:40pm Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on Gore Road in Puslinch and while speaking with a man driving a four-door sedan, detected an odour of suspected marijuana.
“The driver then became agitated with police and took off in his vehicle from the RIDE at a high rate of speed,” police stated in a press release.
“As he was driving away he struck an officer’s arm. The officer was not injured.”
Police say the driver, Kyle McIntyre, 19, of Cambridge, returned a short time later and was charged with dangerous driving, escaping lawful custody, failing to stop when signalled/requested and failing to surrender an insurance card.
He is to appear in Guelph court on June 5.
