After a standoff that lasted several hours, police took a man into custody here late on Tuesday night.
On April 3 at about 8:15pm, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a disturbance at a residence on Herrick Street North in Fergus.
Police say a man with a weapon had "barricated" himself inside the residence and "refused to cooperate with officers."
The OPP's Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit assisted local officers at the call.
Eventually, after a "several hours," a 32-year-old man "was taken into custody without incident," police say.
The investigation is continuing and charges are pending, officials added.
