A teenager has been charged after police say he refused to let an officer pass him on a local road.
Police say that on Sept. 4 at about 11:07pm a Wellington County OPP officer was travelling at 140km/h on Wellington Road 109 near Concession 9 in Mapleton on the way to a “heated domestic dispute.”
When the officer pulled out to pass a 2007 Audi the Audi driver accelerated to the same speed as the cruiser to prevent it from passing, police say,.
“The officer had to brake hard to avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle,” police stated in a press release.
Jacob Boese, 19, of Mapleton, was charged with performing a stunt (by speeding 50km/h or more over the limit) and preventing someone from passing.
He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on Oct. 5. The driver’s licence and the vehicle were seized for seven days.
