A Puslinch man faces nine charges after police were called about a vehicle being taken without the owner’s permission.
On May 17 at about 8:20pm, Wellington County OPP officers were called about a man removing a vehicle from storage without consent of the owner.
“The suspect was known to OPP and was currently wanted on a warrant stemming from an incident in January,” police stated in a press release.
On May 24 a Wellington County OPP officer observed the vehicle, a grey Mitsubishi Eclipse, in a lot on Silvercreek Parkway.
“As police attempted to approach the vehicle the suspect fled in it with two passengers,” police stated.
“With the assistance of Guelph City Police the vehicle was located parked behind a retail store at 130 Silvercreek Parkway. The accused had fled on foot.”
With the assistance of the Waterloo Regional Police canine unit, police located and arrested the suspect, who police say was carrying “a large quantity” of suspected drugs as well as drug paraphernalia, a knife and brass knuckles.
Nathan Sonoda, 26, of Puslinch, was charged with escaping lawful custody, dangerous operation of a vehicle, failing to comply with a probation order, taking a motor vehicle without consent, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of MDMA (ecstasy) for the purpose of trafficking, possession of psilocybin (mushrooms) for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon
He was held for bail court on May 25 in Guelph.
