A Wellington North man faces a slew of charges after livestock were found in “deplorable conditions” at a farm in Conn.
Officials from the Guelph Humane Society charged the 58-year-old man in June after following up on a complaint received in April.
On June 8 and 15, officials laid 10 charges under the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act relating to:
– causing and allowing animals to be in distress;
– failing to comply with Ontario SPCA orders;
– failing to provide adequate food, water, medical attention and care necessary for general welfare;
– failing to provide adequate sanitary conditions;
– failing to provide adequate resting/sleeping areas and to maintain pens; and
– failing to confine animals in a safe enclosure.
A press release from the Guelph Humane Society stated officials received a report about animals “living in deplorable conditions” on the farm.
Accused not identified
Investigators found a Holstein bull, a cow, four heifers, two Holstein calves, four horses, and eight miniature horses on the property.
“In line with Ontario SPCA policy, the name of the accused persons will not be released until a conviction is registered,” states the press release.
