New systems to process wastewater are being installed at Stanley Park in Erin. The manufactured-home community, owned by Killam Properties, is located in the northern part of Erin village between the West Credit River and two off-line ponds. Due to the size of the project, it was supervised by the Ministry of the Environment, instead of the town, and was issued a permit by Credit Valley Conservation (CVC). Some individual septic systems are being combined into communal systems, said Gary Murphy, CVC director of planning and development. “Locating the septic systems outside of the floodplain was not feasible,” he said. “The application was reviewed to ensure no negative impacts. Water quality should improve as well, as a result of the works.” Killam purchased the 76-acre site with 108 homes in 2007 for $2.5 million. Photos by Phil Gravelle
